The Class 89 and Advanced passanger Train were both designs that failed to be produced in any numbers. The Class 89 has until recently been used on East Coast Main Line duties. A few items of the APT stock have been preserved and can be seen just north of Crewe Station as part of the Crewe Heritage Site. |

The Advanced Passanger Train or class 370 was tested frequently between Crewe and Carlisle and is seen here in 1985 about to start a return test run. I was lucky enough to travel on the APT during its brief service.Unfortunatly only from Motherwell to Glasgow Central. |
